North Center Retreat
Creating a peaceful urban retreat was the goal for this project. A casual, communal fire pit space surrounded by colorful plants and foliage created a relaxed vibe for the family. A covered dining space allows them to eat outdoors during any kind of weather.
Main Objectives
- Neighboring side yard was acquired to create more garden space
- Create an entertainment space primarily for adults, with plans to use the spaces long-term home into retirement
- Incorporate a covered dining space and fire element
- Create a variety of planted, colorful garden areas
- Clean, contemporary approach and style preference
Solutions
- A new garage spanning both lots was built with an extended roof to create an outdoor dining room with fan. Kemora added a bluestone patio under the table with large contemporary steppers transitioning family and guests over to the gravel fire pit area
- Heavy use of hydrangeas, shrub roses, and flowering perennials to have something blooming throughout the growing season
